It is a story of heritage, but just as much a story of transformation.

From the fishing grounds to the forefront

Olympic’s story was born at sea. Generations along Norway’s northwestern coast have made their living from the ocean. Founder Stig Remøy went to sea as a teenager and became a skipper at 21. There he learned two lessons that would become fundamental to Olympic: success depends on having good people around you – and on using technology to move ahead.

From its beginnings with two offshore vessels and a fishing trawler, Olympic has continuously evolved. An early partnership with Ulstein helped pioneer a new generation of vessel design, while a strategic move towards more specialised and flexible vessels established a strong position within subsea.

Technology has been another defining current. From the beginning, Olympic understood the importance of combining experience with the right technology. That belief has driven continuous investment in new vessel concepts and solutions that improve energy efficiency, operational flexibility and performance – enabling Olympic to take on increasingly complex maritime operations.

The ocean has always represented opportunity. As industries and energy systems have evolved, Olympic has continued to expand its expertise – applying generations of maritime experience to increasingly specialised and complex operations at sea.

But the journey has not always been smooth sailing. Olympic has navigated dramatic market cycles and some of the most challenging periods the offshore industry has experienced. When one of the industry’s deepest downturns hit, Olympic adapted once again – emerging as a more focused company with a stronger direction towards subsea and renewable energy.

From fisheries to offshore. From offshore to subsea. From conventional propulsion to hybrid technology. From traditional energy to renewables. Olympic has never been afraid to change course.

Today, Olympic operates one of the world’s most modern and flexible fleets within subsea and renewable energy, performing complex maritime operations across international markets.

But behind every vessel, innovation and operation are the people who made it possible.

Celebrating the people behind the journey

From 4–6 September, colleagues from across the Olympic organisation gathered in Geiranger together with key partners to mark the anniversary.

It was a celebration of more than 30 years. It was a celebration of the people, relationships and shared achievements that have shaped Olympic – and of the pioneering spirit that continues to drive the company forward.

Throughout the journey, one thing has remained constant: Olympic is built by people. We are Olympians – offshore and onshore, across vessels, disciplines and borders. Different roles, but one team, navigating with the same spirit and towards the same goals.

Because while an anniversary invites us to look back, Olympic’s course remains firmly set towards the future.

Pioneers at sea have always been at the heart of Olympic. Today, that pioneering spirit guides our ambitions: to be the preferred partner in complex maritime operations, drive technological and digital innovation, work towards a net-zero fleet by 2050, and above all, ensure that everyone returns home safely.

The ocean still holds enormous possibilities. Technology continues to evolve. New industries are emerging. And new opportunities are taking shape at sea.

For three decades, we have conquered currents.
And the journey continues.
